1.
She tries to write a letter on the back of a bill she never paid. Forgetting all about the phone call that she never made. What did you want me to say? Wait for it… Did you expect me to stay? Not one bit. Well then it must be clear. Crystal clear. Months later, no response is heard of through the mail. She’s worried sick, she hopes he isn’t back in jail. Oh baby here I am! On my own. Why don’t you tell me when You’ll be home? I will forgive you then I will forgive you then. They used to be so inseparable. Oh, but it went awry. She thought he was so adorable Before he taught her to cry. She isn’t sure if she can take it anymore. The happy ending hasn’t found her yet before. Ready to end it all at only twenty-four, She hears some footsteps and a knock upon the door.
2.
Trying to listen to cars when they drive in the dead of the night. Your conversation is a little bit dry but I think you’re all right. Eyelids are falling to the sound of the sky, can’t you turn off the light? Please stay here with me. You can try to get by and I think that you might. I am finally untied. So hold on today. So hold on today. Chorus: I’m flying through the smoke rings Ignoring all the signals that you send. July can tell you nothing, Yet you know that you’re not going ‘round the bend. Walking on water, won’t you weep for a friend who is lost in the tide. Bushes are burning, I can’t help but ask how can you take it in stride. Eyelids are falling to the sound of the sky, can’t you turn off the light? Please stay here with me. You can try to get by and I think that you might. I am finally alive. So don’t go away. So don’t, don’t go away. Chorus
3.
You’re climbing up to the sky And you know someday you’ll die And it doesn’t matter when in a dream Let the world fall all around you. Try to wake up, your sleep is advertised And no one cares, just what’s objectified And your eyes will quiver Relax, the river will carry you away like a baby Chorus Pay attention, pay attention, pay attention It’s coming from afar. Someone must be, someone must be, someone must be Counting up the stars. And the creatures, both great and small. Come to warn you, a hard rain’s gonna fall. You can hardly make it out. But the truth is manifest in the air you breathe. Time and time again, you’ve knelt beside her bed. And somehow, you’ve kept your children fed. Reading poetry, poetry, poetry, sometimes for hours. Still you keep your trust, ‘cause you know you must.
4.
I hope that you’ll stop trying to remind me Of all the other acts I need to do. Different people lining up behind me And most of then I doubt I ever knew. We synchronize our love with what’s convenient. If only we could travel back in time. I’m sorry what I said. I didn’t mean it. I wish the words I spoke were never mine. Chorus: Listening to the sound of the footsteps. And the rhythm of the void. I’m sure you’ve heard the call. The writing’s on the wall. But who will know when all of it’s destroyed. The pundit and the bandit always fighting. They hardly take a moment just to breathe. I’d hate to choose which factor is deciding Especially when no one ever leaves. Blue the color of humiliation. Green will try to sabotage your name. Gold the hue that’s governing the nation. Red for all the irons in the flame. Chorus
5.
I promise you I’m not afraid Of all the flaws to be displayed by you. By you. ‘Cause none of them compare to mine. Fall in the horizon line. Fall in the horizon line. We’ll stay up late, long past the dawn. We’ll laugh until we can go on no more. No more. ‘Cause that’s what wishful thinking’s for. Don’t you near that door. Don’t you near that door. Chorus: And I’m not sure why I keep doing this. Night after night. It must be because it’s one of those things That’s worth the fight. I promise you I’m not afraid To clean up all the mess you made for you. For you. Cause trust me, more is coming soon. Let’s be beneath the moon. Feel free to sleep till noon. Chorus
6.
This existentialist shell hasn’t hardened enough. I’m brewing philosophy so I’ll think that I’m tough I’m ahead of the game, I know there’s an answer, just like you said. Others hold the convictions that coincide with the blue and the red. I wish I could draw a blueprint for all that I am. Mapping out confrontations, us versus them. But it’s not to be, not if you believe in fate, luck or reason. Does the future depend upon what you do, or time of the season? Chorus Shouldn’t you be, shouldn’t you be in love? Wouldn’t you be, wouldn’t you be above? Hasn’t it been, hasn’t it been long enough? But we’ve heard it all before. And we can’t take it anymore. At least, I know I can’t. Oh I just want to be through all the quagmires ahead. I’ll keep on sleeping and eat all the fish and the bread. I will look back tomorrow night and regret some deeds that I’ve done. If it starts feeling scripted that’s when it’s time to follow the sun. Chorus
7.
After every misconception hinged itself upon the train We were left with no direction, now I’m listening to the rain All the troubles that I’ve wrestled seem a distant clouded haze As I fall into the threshold of the self-destructive maze Chorus Not so far in the future, this might mean nothing, nothing at all Nothing to me, nothing to you How I wish I had the patience How I wish I had the patience Running through my idle moments as I pace myself again Breeding only disappointment, either that or just pretend Chorus I don’t have to know how every story ends Borrowed lines I found are seldom fit to send... Home the message what is love and what is real Lost in fondness are the dreams I cannot feel

A: Can I ask you something? Let’s cut to the chase. I’d like to make an offer To wipe the smirk right off his face. B: Your cards are on the table. We all know what you want. You don’t have to hide it. But oh you sure know how to flaunt. A: Let it pay. B: Look away. A: Let it rain. B: I abstain. B: We understand your motives And how you bent the rules. It might be smart to mention Just why you couldn’t keep your cool. A: Take it back. B: It’s a fact. A: You beware. B: I don’t care. Chorus: B: You lie. Say your goodbyes. Uncross your eyes. ‘Cause you lost what was right in front of you. You really don’t know. I’ve got to go. Dear friend or foe, I know a bribe when I see one. A: You know this isn’t over. There’s plenty left to come. I sure hope that’s it’s different. ‘Cause playing chicken won’t be any fun. B: It’s not that I’m a coward. I thought that I’d explained. That’s right, you’re hard of hearing. But that’s not why you look so strained. A: Hey wait up. Take this cup. Soon you’ll be. Far from me.
