On a quiet summer day, he woke up to the sun
And then he shook his head, and saw what must be done.
All the people in his court had left him on his own.
He was treated as a king until he lost his throne.

Two men had found the flaw in his crooked little plan
With the help of an unknown source who had to take a stand.
Tag lines, headlines, story lines were all that they could make.
But little did they know what the U.S.A. could take.

It all began in a dark hotel.
Seemed secure as a jail cell
But we all knew that time would tell
That it was the final knell.
An entire administration
All tied up into a demonstration
That the head of this great nation
Could have a criminal foundation.

They went through all those names with a fine tooth comb.
They even went to many of the people’s homes.
Finally they got down to the center of it all
And don’t you know, they did get off with quite a haul.

Months of broadcasts with ratings through the roof
But you know the man on top would try to stay aloof.
We all know the rest, how everyone was humbled.
Who could forgive them after the way they stumbled?
